Nuclear Is Flexible

Modern reactors are flexible. They can raise and lower how much power they produce to smooth out variations in how much renewable generation there is, and how much electricity is needed. We call this “load following”.

Watch the French nuclear fleet do just that in this graphic. The fleet lowers then raises its output by 20 gigawatts, which is more than enough power for every home in the UK.
